Infosys is a good company for starters. It is a company that has a vast number of developers. Works on volumes. From the perception It does not provide any high end value added consulting
Probably because it is overwhelmed with a vast pool of technical developers
Good for the 1st 2-3 years
Companies look for consulting to help in strategy/planning/directions etc. Programming skills is lower in the value chain
Working ast Infosys employee may get one the technology and coding exposure but growth comes from looking beyond and help adding business value to companies which one may not find in a technology company like Infosys
When technology was new say 10-15 years back, it made good use to companies to increase productivity, enhance certain process etc that helped their support systems. But moving forward consulting needs to provide strategy, customer-marketing intelligence, business differentiators, innovation etc .
Many US/Eurpoean companies have this advantage by being groomed to think in that direction.
Infosys and other programming companies cannot provide that exposure/opportunity
India needs a next-gen company now that can cross the various barriers and make a mark in the global economy not as a developer / programmer based company but one that helps the core business drivers of a corporation
