My husband and I often enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. The problem was that we could not find a wine we both liked. He liked the red wines and I favored the rose. We also faced another problem. Wed invited my husbands sister and her husband for Thanksgiving dinner (1999) and wanted a smooth wine to serve with our turkey.
Approaching the liquor store, we decided wed purchase something we havent tried before. If the experiment worked, that would be our choice for Thanksgiving. If it failed, back to the drawing board! We had less than one month to make a decision. Scanning the shelves, I noticed prices of $6.99 and higher. Much higher! We chose Inglenook White Zinfandel. As I placed our supper on the table, my husband opened the bottle of chilled Inglenook. Well, so far it certainly LOOKED good. It SMELLED good, too. Okay, now for the real test! I took a sip. Hmm! Not bad! I took another! Hmm! Even better! We finished the bottle! We returned to the liquor store the following day and purchased a few bottles of this soft, blush-colored delicacy and it helped make our Thanksgiving dinner a huge success. (You know what well be serving this year!) This wine isnt too dry, nor is it too sweet. Its sort of stuck in the middle with just the slightest hint of a sweet, ripe, rosy peach. Not only is the the perfect wine to serve with any meal, it compliments any meal. It doesnt over-shadow the taste of the food, it enhances it. Inglenooks White Zin has an alcohol level of under 10% - which means you can sit back and enjoy a glass or two - or three - without having the feeling of being tipsy.
Recently, we were invited to a friends house and brought with us a bottle of Inglenooks White Zin. As soon as Pam opened it wrappings, she said, Oh fantastic! Inglenooks Zin! My favorite! So, our choice was right. Not only have my husband and I agreed that White Zinfandel is OUR choice of flavors, weve agreed that the wine must be Inglenook! This wine will not make your lips pucker when you take a sip. Its not tart where you feel like youve bitten into a lemon. Nor is it sweet enough to make your taste buds go crazy craving more and more sugar - as what happens when you drink soda pop. There is the slightest hint of peach flavor but not enough to sour the taste. When you first raise the glass to your lips and inhale that sweet aroma, your first thought is that of driving past a peach farm. You get the aroma without the overbearing smell of too many peaches, some ripe, others over ripe while some are rotten. This wine give you just the hint of one peach that makes you want to sniff it more. Your first sip delicately moistens your tongue and slides smoothly down your esophagus making your mouth beg for more of that delicious semi-sweet wine. There is absolutely no after-taste. Just a pleasant reminder that something good has passed through your mouth. While there is not enough alcohol to impair your mind (unless you drink the entire bottle yourself), two glasses will give you a nice, comfortable, warm feeling. As I said, this is wine for every occasion - and every meal.
