Ever since the news came up about Tarantino making a movie about Germans, I had wanted to watch this movie. Tarantinos movies are ususally filled with Violent action sequences, subtle comedy and a revetting screen play. He has his own away about his movies, be it the back ground score he uses in his movies, or the body languages of the central characters, its always a treat to watch. Inglorious Bastr*ds scores in all of the above traits.
A group of American Jews named "Bastr*ds" are dropped in Nazi occupied France to carry out one mission.to Kill Nazis. This group is of 8 people is headed by 1st Lieutenant Aldo Raine played by Brad Pitt. They kill Nazis and to keep count of how many they have killed they take out the scalp from the dead bodies.its quite gruesome when u look at it onscreen! But not all are killed, some are let go with the Nazi swastika "Carved" into the forehead. Apart from these men, a character named Shosanna plots to mass murder Nazis to revenge for her familys execution on the hands of the Fuhrer. How the two plans converge into an action filled climax is the story
The thing about this movie is for most part, the characters speak either French or German. Subtitles are the saving grace. There are a couple of places where the dialogues go On and On for about 15-20 minutes but seconds following that, you can expect a bloody(I mean BLOODY) action scenes.
Christoph Waltz as Standartenführer Hans Landa aka "The Jew Hunter", is the best character of the movie. Tarantino has said that this might be the greatest character hes ever written. He is a treat to watch. Brad Pitt fits the role perfectly. Other characters dont have much screen presence, but they do justice to their roles. A hearty treat to Die Hard Tarantino fans, a good watch for the ones who can sit thru the scenes where French and German is spoken.
