Extortionist Reliance Big Cinemas

Unfortunately we have become a very very insensitive society, other than to things which affect only us. And somehow this society fights screams and raises voice against only weaklings. I see examples of this daily. When I speak out I have often been told "aapka kya hai"? People need to understand everything is not related to self. Like other countries in the world we need to do things and speak out and take a stand for what is right and what is good civic sense too.

Today very few people in India seem to mind when they are forced to pay out their hard earned money. People will not follow a simple road rule, spit on the road, let their societies be unclean, not contribute to for civic betterment. But when arm twisted they will pay amazing prices for material items without batting an eyelid . One example of this I saw early today morning. Organisations like Reliance Big Cinemas take full advantage of such mentality.

For a morning show of Dabangg everyone was being forced to buy 2 Samosas/PopCorn and 2 cold drinks for Rs. 130/-, whether they needed it or not. Even the manager of Big Cinemas in Chinchwad, of the Pimpri Chinchwad area was supporting this.

We complained and asked others why they were giving in to such exploitation. We were the consumers and cannot be forced to pay out good money for such cheap junk which was being sold as food. Also I have been to multiple movie halls across India and never been forced to buy junk food with movie tickets by the likes of PVR or Inox. I know there are luxury halls in Mumbai, Bangalore where tickets go up to Rs.1000 and more. But they offer a lifestyle. None of them force you to pay 130/- for junk food where a ticket costs Rs. 140/-. When we complained they just asked us to go, refusing to let us buy just movie tickets. This is extortion by Big Cinemas and somewhere , somehow I hope there will be action against such consumer exploitation. If I knew how to bring it about, I would have. But unfortunately in todays cities where even simple sighboards and guidance marks are missing, onecannot hope to find the answer to consumer rights without having ample proof that will stand in a court of law.

To whoever reads this, I have just one request. Please speak out for the right, take a stand and do not buy from such organisations. Only then will we change what is wrong. A lone person will not win. but together we will. Otherwise organisations like Reliance, know Indian mass public is either scared or won’t raise their voice even when they face a wrong. It is actually shameful that this generation follows the one which fought and gave their life for independence.
