The American Dream

Anurag Mathur has got to be one of the funniest authors around. His book, is based on the dream of every student who aspires to go to the U.S. taking with him/her a very ’’Indian’’ perspective on life there.

Inscrutable Americans takes off with a letter written by the protagonist (Gopal), a young boy from a small village in India (Jhajau in M.P.) to his brother. The protagonist has just taken off on his flight to the American shores when he writes this letter. After reading this most hilarious letter, I just could not put the book down. So I completed the book in just two sittings.

Anurag Mathur has chosen a very pertinent subject to weave his story around. Gopal is at the age when every student has to make a decision on whether he/she wants to go abroad for further studies. Gopal is one such student who goes abroad. He’s out to score with the women there. The amazing humour infused into the book by Anurag Mathur is well worth mentioning.

This book is a must read for all, as they’d identify in one way or another with Gopal.
