Apporoval - The courses are apporoved by AICTE and Ministry of HRD, govt of India.

The Institute - Over two decades since it’s inception , the inst has carved a niche for itself amongst the premiere B-schools and has consistently ranked in the Top 15 B-schools.It always helps to have biggies on the board & IMT has several of them , kamal nath , Rajan Nanda, President-Escorts group, Vijay Mallya Chairman, McDowell & Co. Ltd, V.k. Modi, MD, Modi Rubber Ltd   to name a few.

Industrial Interference - The inst holds excellent reputation with the concerned industry & frequently holds seminars and direct-interaction sessions which is of immense help both to the inst and the students.

Placement – 100% placement track record ( no pun intended). You could expect something in the range of 3-3.5 lakhs per annum . Moreover , with reputed cos coming to the campus gives it the extra edge of having a job which gives you both job satisfaction & fancy pay-packages.

The names of a few recruiters who visited the campus in the last placement session – TCS group, Usha group, Stan Chartered Bank, Lowe Lintas, SBI Life Insurance, Voltas, Whirlpool etc.

Rankings – Overall 13th as per the Outlook survey 2003.

10th in placement.

8th in Comp-student ratio.

To give you an idea of where it stood the last year –

Outlook rating – 13th.

Business Today rating – 15th.

But Wait ……

Rankings – You are not supposed to blindly trust the rating , they could be misleading at times. I’hv seen downright indifferent institutes finding a berth in the Top 100 list , even in the Top 50 list !! , IILM, LBS-B, Siva-Sivani to name a few are such insts in the Outlook’s rating of top 50 insts.Believe me , you just need one thing to get admission in these insts & it’s money .

See for yourself –

IMT     Average Salary – year 2002 – 4, 11, 000 ( as per BT survey).

Average salary – year 2002 – 5, 72, 000(as per the official website & Indiabschools.com).

Number of Recruiters – 46 in the year 2002 ( as per BT)

Number of Recruiters - 72 in the year 2002 ( as per the official website).

Maximum salary offered – 7.10 Lakhs ( as per the official website)

Maximum salary offered – 9.0 Lakhs ( as per indiabschools.com)

So there you are . Which one’s the right figure ? This is just to say that Rankings are just that, Rankings .

SoundBites….

* I know someone who after completing his BE from IIT-B joined IMT, opted for Finance as his specialization and landed up a job of 3.8 lakhs/annum in one of the reputed Fincorps. He’s of the view that the Inst is quite good .

* If the grapevine is to be believed backdoor entry is rampant .Infact some go to the extent of saying that if you are willing to pay a few more lakhs you are in . I came across several such aspirants who are of the same opinion . And yes, I agree with them .

One of my friends who was quite disheartened at not being able to get through the GDPI session was told the following by the Adms head of a Top-notch MBA preparatory coaching inst – oh, just forget it. They have got their parameters all wrong. They are all infact you should be happy .It’s definitely not the end of road for you.

Final Word – With so many B-schools mushrooming all over , the aspirants are a confused lot .IMT, undoubtedly ranks amongst the best in the business .If you could clear the ent-exam and GDPI do not have any second thoughts , just go for it . But if you fail to get a bearth , you need not be disheartened or think that you are not good enough for the premier insts. There are several other equally good Institutes .It’s definitely not the end of road for you.
