Stylish but very cheap quality

This is the review of Instyle Furniture, which you can almost always find very near to the entrance of the Furniture Mela at Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore.


We(I and my wife) had gone for visiting the furniture mela at Kanteerava stadium. These InStyle people were located almost near the entrance. We were looking at some decent and cheaper varieties(in the range of 15-25k. This is cheaper in terms of the furniture displayed by other stores which was much more than this range).


The sales guy over there was very pleasant and he gave details of two varieties of sofas which we were interested. He always said something like "more thinking means more loss" or something and "i will give you best price(always whispering these words)".


We finally decided on a L shaped sofa for Rs.22500(including delivery at home) and we asked for two changes, an increase in size of the back rest and hand rest on both sides of the L shape. He was continuously asking for payment of 5000 at that time and the remaining at the time of delivery even though I was willing to pay the whole amount.


We were promised the delivery of sofa on 21st nov or 22nd nov at the latest. On 21st I got a call saying the material hasn’t reached Bangalore from Mumbai and so they can deliver it on only 23 nov. After repeated calls, they said they will deliver by 22nd afternoon but when we called them on 22nd, again the same reply. can’t deliver it before 23 nov.


We waited till 23rd nov only to know that they will deliver it by 24th nov evening.


We tried calling that guy on 24th evening and these are the responses.


At 5.30 PM: Waiting for the van to carry the sofa. Will deliver by 8:30


At 7:30: Not at office. After half an hour, can tell the status on reaching office and taking the bill number


At 8:30: Still not at office. Call me after half an hour


At 9:00: Not lifting the phone.


At 9:30: Van at Whitefield. Problem with delivery for some other customer and so cutting the iron rods of the grill at the entrance!


At 10:00: Will deliver the sofa as soon as possible, possibly by 11:30


We waited till 12:00 without sleeping but the sofa never reached us

The same guy called me back next day(25th) morning at 10 and said sofa will reach by evening. I told him I can take leave and stay at home(as I was worried if I will ever get anything). He said he will deliver it by 7. Again the same story continued.


I call him at 5 and he says he is waiting for van. When I asked him if he will repeat the same story again, he said he has arranged for a different van! I did a further follow up at 7 and he said he has loaded the sofa on to van.


The driver of the van called us at 10 and took the address. The van reached at 12:30 AM.


They came, they delivered and they went without giving us time to even see at what they had delivered.


Now the quality of the delivery:




  1. Specifications changed and the sofa was now smaller than what we saw during the furniture expo




  2. Positives: The colors were matching with our order. The height increase and the change in hand rest were done:)




  3. The person had said he will use recron in the pillows but there was some local junk in the pillows.




  4. The leather was torn on one end. The finish was bad with the seat appearing budging out on one end. And to add to these, the cloth on the seat was in light color for the first two seats and darker for the 3rd seat. A careful observation of the sofa revealed it easily.






To sum up, these people deliver low quality sofas at not at all worth for money prices. And that too after continuously calling them. From the complaints in complaintsboard.com, it looks like the after sales service is pathetic. I will post the status of my sofa after two months.


This review is very lengthy but I wanted to put my whole experience so that people dont go through this lengthy process to get sub-standard sofas.
