Intex aqua 4G HD

Intex ’s first 4G smartphone looks definitely promising but considering how the sub-10k smartphone category has evolved, there are far better choices which offer latest Android OS or display with Full HD resolution.

Intex Aqua 4G+

Intex, the second largest domestic player now, has devices in all price range and this mid ranger is definitely a shot at the already crowded market. This is a 4G smartphone aimed at those college going kids who want to have the latest but within their budget.

Specs: 5.0-inch ( 720x1280p, ~ 294 ppi) LCD display | Quad-core 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6735 processor | 2GB RAM | 16GB storage ( expandable up to 32GB) | 13MP rear camera + 5MP front | Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery | Android Lollipop OS

Rs 9, 499

What is good?

The best thing has to be its 4G connectivity. Though 4G is not widely available in our country, this device keeps you ready for when it will.

The 13 MP camera takes great pictures in daylight. Ideally this camera can click pictures worth posting on social networking sites. Also the front 5MP snapper clicks decent selfies.

The smartphone is powered by a MT6735 processor which has better processing power than Snapdragon 410 SoC. Coupled with Mali-T720 GPU, it can easily handle most games from the Play Store. Playing Dead Trigger 2 was really smooth on this device.

The battery has amazing standby time. The 2300-mAh battery can easily last you a day on moderate usage. Another good thing about this device is how Intex has kept bloatware to the minimum. Except for a slight cosmetic change, the OS is stock Android.

What is not that good?

The brightness level of the display is definitely disappointing. I was constantly hunting for the brightness level indicator in the notification. While adaptive brightness feels good, it is best to keep brightness levels a little higher.

The device really heats up while playing games, even basic ones like Beach Buggy Jump.It could be due to some firmware, but for now this is definitely an issue.

The positioning of the power button and volume rockers don’t really seem justified to me. I’m so used to finding volume rocker on the right that I was constantly checking out for those buttons. Thank God, the phone supports tap to wake, otherwise finding power atop a 5.5-inch device can get daunting.

Should you buy?

At this price, the second-gen Moto G is a great option. Lenovo K3 Note is an absolute killer provided you can buy one. And then there is

Huawei Honor 4X that has one of the bes

t cameras in this class. So this is a good phone, but certainly not the best in the segment.
