An absolute delight

After a significantly long time, I watched a movie with my entire family without the slightest embarassment or the need to keep a watchful eye on the forward button. No unwanted songs, no girls in skimpy outfits, no villains baring their fangs, no blood, no gore, no lofty dialogues/monologues, no social messages, on double entrendes, no super heroes, no ostentatious houses and artificial people. For once we were witness to the trials and jubilations of a simple village dumb and mute lad whose aspiration to become a member of the Indian Team comes true finally despite several challenges. The most severe being not his physical disability but the politics that makes sports in India a preserve of the rich and the well connected.

With stellar performances from the ever bankable Naseerudin Shah, Girish Karnad and a completely credible Shreyas Talpade as the Dumb Mute village lad, ably supported by the effervescent Shweta Prasad as his very supportive younger sister, the movie is an absolute delight to watch for all those who have their heart and head in the right place.
