I am 33 year old, and I am reminded of the days when Star Trek used to be a bg hit in DD. Remember Captain James talking to his crew members through a wireless flip open transmitter. As a kid we used to make models of such gadget with two empty match boxes and a rubber band.!
I also remember of the days when railway reservation was a manual process! Planning a holiday used to be a Herculean task. Go to the booking centre, buy’train at a glance’ and then just pray like hell that you get the reservation by fair means and without shelling extra money from the pocket.
Then one fine day I grew up and so did India! Today, I own a state of the art mobile phone which I am sure is much
more sophisticated than what the Star Trek guys used and I book tickets for my dad through IRCTC so that he can travel with a smile. It is really
heartening to see that our country and we have developed so much.
IRCTC, guys is an exceptionally good site!. Every time I book a ticket, I feel good!. I feel good for my country, for my dad(because as a kid I had seen him standing on those long queues for the reservation), and for all those nice souls who have applied their brains to give life to this concept, which till now was primarily in abroad. Not to mention the amazing variety of payment options the site offers!
Although there are minor bugs, but I am sure they will be sorted out in due course.
So next time when you plan to travel by train and are not finding time to go to the reservation counter, then my only advice- "Please don’t waste time’ Log on to https://irctc.co.in, and make your journey a comfortable and memorable one. BY THE WAY DONT FORGET THAT YOU ALSO STAND TO GAIN AN EXTRA HOUR OF LIFE!*(by not waiting for your turn!)
I just wish they also include booking of all types of concessional tickets.
