When I was looking for job and had to go for Interviews

from Chennai - Bangalore - Hyderabad - Delhi - Mumbai , the most

tedious thing was to stand in the long queues..and with

season these queues use to get longer and longer no matter

how many Ticket Windows Railways open..

There were some innocent souls .. who ’’avoiding to stand’’ in the

inquiry counter Queue.. would ’’inquire about all the Trains’’ on the

Ticket window :)

Normal Question and Answer on Ticket Window :)

Bhai saab yeh train kahan jaati hai

Answer comes ’’aapne Train Number Galat Likha hai @#%*&’’

Somehow the innocent soul writes a correct number and gives the form then

answer comes ’’waiting hai’’ :)

then next question ’’accha tou yeh train (next train number) ka kya status hai’’

answer comes ’’waiting hai’’ :)

then next question comes ’’Tou aise koi train hai jo Waiting nahi hai?’’ :))

answer comes ’’Inquiry Counter pe Jao na yaar- I will answer only 2 questions’’

hehehehe and then the frustrated public in the Queue also kick that

innocent soul from the line .. so that they can ’’Inquire’’ those

same questions..themselves

I use to get soooo relieved to see some guy getting his (well Planned)

job done in 10 minutes and leave the Counter with his ticket.. WoW !!

’’Bada Jaldi Kaam ho gaya yaar iska’’ was the next comment from behind.

Now that I have a job in hand, would like to increase my comfort level

a little bit in my life :) with that comes Indian Railway’s website for such

innocent souls. https://irctc.co.in

What Railway has done for the innocent souls in so many years of Indian

customer money is (other than running trains ofcourse)

1) Once upon a time one Railway Minister (I dont remember his name

and party) gave ’’Leather Seats’’ to these innocent souls.

Earlier it was just Wooden Berths all over the compartments :)

And its been ages that anything more has been done in those compartments.

2) Complete Reservation Status all over India one software, takes care

of all the tickets, a person residing in Kanyakumari can buy tickets

between Delhi and Amritsar, after going through the above mentioned

long Q :) but still its good.

AND

3) Online Railway Ticket Booking website.

I am booking Railway tickets on this website since year 2002 and not once

did it fail to deliver, isn’t it great ? My Mom and Dad are now old, and I dont

want them to go and stand in those long Q’s and me being working away

from home, want to pass on this comfort of ticket booking to them

(in form of home delivery).

They have improved a Lot since I started booking, lots of changes,

Like now you can book ’’exact’’ berth, they have added ’’side lower and upper

berths to the list. They keep improving/innovating (which is good and rare sign

in the Government).

I have also received ’’prompt’’ refund for all my cancellations or

rarely sometimes the website gets hanged the page doesn’t appear

in that case they return the money (to your bank or your Credit card).

But not everything seems to be going smooth for this website.

I would want them to look into these matters.

a) Please put a ’’Return Ticket’’ option while booking the Ticket.

At the moment we have to book 2 separate tickets for Going and Return categories

b) They have put this ’’safety’’ feature to avoid any commercial use by agents

that only 4 Tickets can be booked in one month (now I think its 6 tickets)

But this made my job very difficult, during my Marraige, I had to travel

and book so many tickets for relatives and myself, and this 4 tickets ’’tag’’

was making it difficult. Since they consider 2 separate tickets for

’’ongoing - return’’. Means you can travel just 2 times a month :)

c) Every ticket is charged 40 Rs (sleeper) and 60 Rs (AC) service charge

I can understand that Courier requires this much BUT again :) why to charge

to the same person .. same address (delivery) .. 40 + 40 = 80 Rs for

’’ongoing and return tickets’’ and moreover they come on 2 different days

sometimes.

d) E-tickets (print at your desk and travel) are not yet made available for

all the Trains (just Shatabadi) but I think they are working on it.

e) I have broadband so website loading is not a problem,

cannot tell about normal connection though

I continue to book on this site, all my Railway tickets, since its very

reliable in terms of ’’Credit Cards’’, ’’Direct Banking’’ and Delivery.

Guys please go through this website, its recommended..since its

a rare Gift from our ’’Bhartiya Rail’’ to all the innocent souls..

standing in the never ending Q’s...

You will surely get this remark from your ’’padosi’’
