Story-Zoya( Parineeti) and Parma(ARjun Kapoor) hate each other right from their formative years..Family competition for the MLA post of Almore(small town) being the reason for the rivalry.
They belong to the Qureshi and Chauhan families respectively.Parma, a spoilt brat who smirks and gives impish smile at the drop of hat..Zoya a firebrand..who sells her gold earrings in order to buy a 20k Revolver and bullets:)..unconventional and so un-girlish!
In his quest to outshine the Qureshis, Parma jots down a plan of marrying Zoya and then dumping her, which in turn insults the Quereshi family-->makes Parma’s Granpa MLA-->Kills his mother-->makes the couple fall in love against the adversary ..
The message this movie conveys is honor killing is unethical and Hindu-Muslim marriage/love relationship should be accepted by Indian society.In the end, love is all that matters!
Performance-
Arjun Kapoor-Not even once it struck me that he was a newcomer and this movie was his debut.He looked quiet convincing as a small town "bigda hua" ladka who apparently is spoilt and heartless..but deep within he has emotions and he values the promise he gave to his dying mother.
Someone who can go to any lengths to keep his promise and his words.His transition from a cheater and heartbreaker to a possesive husband is worth appreciation.
Ranbeer Kapoor, finally there is competition in Bollywood for you.watch out for another Kapoor named Arjun!.
Parineeti-She proved her mettle in ladies vs ricky bahl and in her second flick, she outshined the confidence she had displayed in the first one.Talented actress with perfect blend of confidence, cuteness and arroagnce.She has that spark in her.Her personality oozes confidence and she somehow reminds you of Kajol of yesteryears.
Rest of the star cast was well selected and each and every actor paid complete justice to their role.
Music-
Thanks Amit trivedi for the melodious album of Ishaqzade.Songs with an ethereal feel in them.Perfectly placed in the movie, they add as an extension to the plot.
Background track is impressive. Pareshan, Jhalla wallah and the title track stands apart..
Direction, cinematography and chorography were brilliant.All in all this movie had all the ingeidients to make it a perfect masala flick.Pre-interval twist and the unexpected climax sets it apart from the rest of the Bollywood movies , with lovestory as the main theme , in the recent times
This movie deserves 3 stars, plus one star for Arjun Kapoor=4 stars for aafaton ke parindey..ishaqzaade!
