I would like to talk a little about the Dead Sea, and why it is a memorable place for me. Lately, I have been thinking about Israel. Although I havent been there for around 8 years, my thoughts come back and forth to the Dead Sea.
I was courting a girl at the time who subsequently I divorced, and we visited many places. One of the most memorable of places in Israel was the dead sea. I dont why I am thinking of this. Maybe because I like bodies of water, I dont know.
The dead sea is special to me. Yes, you can float there almost effortlessly, and this is fun of course. But moreover, it is a very quiet place. The air is very heavy, but you feel very comfortable in this thick air. At least I do. I have never visited the Dead Sea in the Winter, but I am sure there are times when the water would be comfortable enough to take a dip.
As you submerge yourself feet in the sludge and silt of the dead sea, it instantly penetrates your pores of your feet and relaxes you. As if you stepped on a very comfortable carpet with your bare feet for the first time.
You look around at the panorama and you can see the Jordanian hills staring at you like sentinels. Quiet hills in the thick briny air.
You can feel the salt water buoy and massage your body, and as you lie in the water, you dont have a care in the world.
If you havent been there it is hard to understand, but once you go there, you know it is very unique one of a kind place.
I really believe that certain bodies of water can be healing like the Dead Sea, Niagra Falls. If you are in Israel, and want a day where you can just relax for a few hours, and you want to get away from history, the big city, suburbia, then I recommend this place.
Rent a car in the city and go to the timeless Dead Sea.
