Am getting old!!!

I remember when QSQT (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak) was released, I was all but 13 years old then! With dreamy eyes and a heart full of love, I fell madly in love with Aamir Khan which lasted over than a year, till the time MPK (Maine Pyar Kiya) released when my loyalties shifted entirely to Salman Khan.

JTYJN reminded me of those days. Imran reminded me of Aamir Khan as Raj. Genelia reminded me of no one, but even then, the flavour of this movie reminded me of QSQT and MPK days, and my dreams associated with them.

The story, plot, or the theme of the movie is nothing great - infact its the same old gift wrapped in a new gift wrap paper. But the treatment of the movie is impressive - pretty impressive. Its a welcome break from violence, tragedy, villains, sex, and all that stuffs our hindi movies are full of, otherwise... now, at the risk of sounding very "chiche", I will say, that this movie is "different", despite having an old storyline...

The actors are all perfect to the T... they fit the bill... fresh and young...they all seem very young. The bunch of friends reminded me of my college days - no, unfortunately, there was no Imran for me :-(

The group of parents... all of them are so cool... and it was very refreashing to see Kitu Gidwani and Anuradha Patel back on big screen... though there was nothing much for them to do - yet there presence did make some good difference.

Naseeruddin and Ratna pathak Shah were amazing - I mean ofcourse, thats the most normal thing to write about - if they were not amazing, then probably it could have made sense writing about them... infact, talking about treatment - the mere presence (or absence) of Naseeruddin Shah as Imran’s dad speaks of the quality of the treatment. His cameo is too good.

Paresh Rawal also did what is expected of him - though I must say he is grossly underutilised, but then, its ok, its not HIS film after all...

Amit, Aditi’s brother is the surprise package... you would hate to love him, and love to hate him, but end up, loving him all in all...

Sohail and Arbaaz Khan rock! They should stick to commedy, they have a very good comic timing. Better than their elder bro.

I loved the song "Aditi..." more because its my name, but also because it has a very sweet https://lyrics... other songs are so so.

Imran is sweet -like I said, he reminded me of Raj in QSQT... he is here to stay. Hope he continues to do good films and remains a heart throb for the generationY for long - I feel sorry for them... the kind of choice these generation has... Ranbir Kapoor!!! and now the recent addition Harman Baweja!!! - infact after Hrittik, my neice has turned her loyalty to some hunk (Arman, the screen name) of Dill Mill Gaye (a serial about a young group of doctors, who do everything apart from what doctors should do)... am sure the teenage girls will be happy to have Imran Khan...

A couple of things I didnt like about the movie -

  1. Genelia... why???? why not someone else??? I wish her all the luck, but its just that, an actor who cannot act is too much to digest...

  2. The ending could have been better.

All in all - a nice feel-good movie. Good for every generation. And something to watch with friends and families alike.
