My Review:
I watched the movie last nite and I had expections from the movie which were eaisly met. To be very honest I have never much liked sajid nadiawala’s films starting from hdjpkg which I thought had gr88888 songs but were ruined and than with msk I felt the film cud have been so much better though it was still a good movie. There is something with his last 2 movies that didnt click much with me...i alwayz wonder what it is I didnt like his sense of humor in hdjpkg and in msk I was like wth yaar u salu-akki have such gr8 chemistry why not have them do more scenes. OK anywayz now on to Jaan-e-Mann. I am not really good or comfortable with writting reviews...i usually blabber in my reviews but I wl try and explain what I really thought of the movie .
Ok so I had expectation from Jaan-e-Mann...though like I said b4 I didnt much like his earlier films but somehow with jaan-e-mann I felt it was gonna be a gr8 film and thankfully it turned out exactly like that. The print I saw was bad, the dubbing was messed up due 2 the bad print and many scenes were cut as u can tell it jumped from one scene 2 another BUT still I thorougly enjoyed the movie.
Direction: Shirish had done a very good job. Ofcourse there were some minor flaws like why the hell wud preity’s bro save all those letters salman sent her. BUT considering it was shrish’s 1st film we can eaisly overlook these minor details as even much experienced directors make bigger blunders that this. Shrish is def a talented guy...and he is here to stay. The background music is also superb. A Very well done job shirish.
Music: Gr8 music. All the songs fit so well with the movie and I esp like "humko maloom hai", "sau dard", "ajnabi seher" and "jaane ke jaaney na" (jokey gaana as my jaanu baby likes 2 call it-lol). I didnt like "jaaney ke jaaney na" before but now I think its such a fun song and very well sung by the singers. The beauty of the music is that it fits in so well with the movie. I know when we heard "humko maloom hai" every1 was like whats this "mummy, papa..." but I knew it was gonna fit so well in the movie and it did. Hence like some1 earlier mentioned in their review guys no break during the songs.The vcd I got didnt have sau dard but from the trailers I think it is so well done as u feel salman’s pain and salman has done superb emotiong the sadness in the song. Overall I would say the music is first rate but I still prefer the music of msk.
Choreography: In the vcd there were only 3 songs; humko maloom hai, udh jaana and ajnabi seher. They all r very well done and are differently done which def shows farah worked harder for her hubby’s film . I really liked the whole set humko maloom hai started off with and than the dance with salu-preity during ajnabi shehar though I felt preity wasnt very comfortable with that type of dance but that whole scene was very romantic.
Performances:
Aman verma- he was irritating...arghhh. I hope salu didnt get him for this role.
Anupam-I didnt like him much...i mean he is a good actor so even if he has no gr8 role he wont irritate u but somehow he was lil irritating in the dwarf bit. I dont think it was needed esp since it took so much effort and hardwork on anupem’s and the technicians part. But than again I thought many of his scenes were cut too cuz I doubt with the very few scenes he had in the copy I saw he wud have agreed 2 work so hard for it.
Preity- She was alrite...didnt have much 2 do except to look good and she did that esp in her manghni part. I personally disliked her pair with salu in hdjpk as they had zero chemistry 2gether...in djak they looked better than b4 but again in jaaneman I didnt feel much of a chemistry either between salman and her or her and akki.
Akki- he was cuteee esp his laugh. he has improved his acting and he does come across as a hardworking actor but I was disappointed that he didnt work on his accent. he shud have worked atleast lil bit on making his accent american. or he shud have begged sallu not to speak in his american accent cuz it made akki look really stupid speaking english with so called american accent.The funnie part that he said in the beg of the movie how his hindi is rusty.
Salman- Bravo. He excels in the emotional scenes and I alwayz knew he really cries well...i m glad many others have realized that now :P. In the 1st half he carries off so well as a guy with attitude and air abt himself and in the 2nd half how he transforms into a caring, sensitive soul is such a treat to watch. He should get to do a out n out emotional film as he is a very sensitive performer and does very well showing his sensitive side. As for how he looks...well do we need 2 even mention that cuz he alwayz looks gr8888888...and does so in this movie too..maybe a lil more gr8...haha Mashallah se with every film he looks better.
Did you guys notice javed sheikh in the film? he was playing preity’s dad. It was a short role but I really liked the scene where he says 2 suhan that u have the rite 2 yr baby’s custody but thats not the rite way to go for it.
Best Scenes:

- I loved the part in the end where they showed the whole "Mein pareshaan hoon
Ek majboori per..." situation from preity’s angle. That was really a beautiful scene.
The scene where salu go down on his knee for the the side role he so needed 2 get his family back . That was very well done by salman and also very well directed...they showed how for a person that he was with attitude and ego...its not that easy for some1 like that to change over nite hence they showed how he didnt directly go on the knees perhaps out of embarassement or 2 avoid being shouted at infront of every1. Aww that scene really touched my heart.
Salu’s audition for the diaper commercial. Again very touching and I really liked the idea also of a father being used for the commericial .
The finger shake. Awwwwwwwww and the baby was just so cute. Usually they dont have cute babies in movies...lol but this one was like the cutest ever. Again good direction cuz with a father like salman and a cute mom like preity the baby cant go wrong . Salu’s scenes with the baby were very naturally done and u feel that salu wl be a very good father to his kids.
salu dressed as a women...wow what a sexc mama:. he has such a perfect facial features that I had no doubt he wud look a stunner as a women too.
Salu training akki and akki copying his walk n all...lol
the 1st time akki n preity meet after 7 yrs...lol and how akki shouts out her name and salu saying 2 himself...is ka kuch nahi baney wala.
the ending part with preity’s russain twin.
Overall a very enjoyable movie and def a movie you wl enjoy with the whole family. It has repeat value and a movie you buy and watch whenever you wanna be entertained.
