Without a shadow of a doubt, this is Imtiaz Ali’s worst film. As for SRK, the movie is just par for the course in his rapid decline as an actor, a star, and a role model.
Actually, the story is, Sejal is an idiot who lost her engagement ring, and Harry is a bigger idiot to now go looking for it.
A big disappointment for both the fans of SRK and Imtiaz Ali. They both need to think about what to do next. In seperate rooms, please.
Imtiaz Ali has a reputaion for making nothingness feel relevant and timely, because this is a generation used to romanticizing its own problems.
Jab Harry Met Sejal is frustrating, not onlu because it’s Imtiaz Ali’s worst film, but also because it is so stuck in the 90s, even Karan Johar wouldn’t make it .
Harry in this movie is a cynical creep with a lame underwritten back story, Sejal is a damp, inconsistent squib.
This has gotten old. Imtiaz may be running out of ideas. There are just so many times you can romanticize self healing and coming-of-age before it all starts to feel contrived. Frankly, Harry and Sejal come off as characters in search of a plot.
Jab Harry Met Sejal isn’t simply clueless and dunderheaded in its understanding of relationships and sexual politics, but also a drag to watch.
Watch it only if you fancy a vicarious romp through Europe with a megastar trying hard to get going.
