I know that this movie is really really old as it was released atleast a decade ago(1998). However that doesn’t mean you cannot watch it on a movie channel or rent it on a DVD. If you are feeling bored in your summer vacations or wondering how to get entertainment on a weekend, then this movie provides atleast three hours non-stop of romance, comedy and the most awesome songs ever that get you humming them instantly.
So this movie begins by showing the ultimate playboy Suraj(Salman Khan)-rich and flirtatious. Apart from a brief fling that lasted for a month, Suraj’s girlfriends don’t stick with him for more than a day or two. Salman Khan was perfect for this role with his chocolate-boy looks and way of speaking-laid back and lovable. However then the inevitable happens-he falls in love.
The thing with the romance in Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai is that the romace there isn’t really cryable or mushy. It tends to make you smile. So for those of you who find romances indigestable, this movie is a suitable tonic. You see the romance between the hero and the heroine here is not about fending off evil parents or anything like that. It’s about changing yourself for the better and coming to terms with your past.
This is exactly the thing mentioned here-Komal(Twinkle Khanna)our heroine doesn’t like Suraj’s playboy ways and drinking habits. And when Suraj pretends to be her childhood friend to win her heart, she takes it as the last straw. Helped with a funny sidekick Mahesh(Johnny Lever) and a doting grandpa(Anupam Kher)Suraj reforms, only to go home and find an illegitimate son.
When the subject of illegitimate children is shown in movies, you expect a considerable amount of hate from the wife and even more from the child. Not to mention Suraj’s habit of spinning lies which gets him into trouble. Usually this involves a lot of melodrama. But even here this is dealt with a great amount of comedy and bonding between father and son(played by Aditya Narayan in his childhood days!) How Suraj finds the courage to tell Komal and her family forms the climax of the story.
Aditya Narayan shows excellent acting as Kabir, acting like a total innocent brat. His faithful dog Sunny is really adorable. You can only expect what the end of the film will be, but even then, you can always see this movie again and gain, even if you know the plot by heart.’ Oh Jaana’ and’Is Dil Mein Kya Hai’ are awesome songs with poetic lyrics and feet-tapping music. Who says only disco music can get you dancing!
You can watch this movie with anybody you like or even alone. The movie had so many good things that it’s impossible for me to say what was better-the cast, the plot, the script, the duration, the ending or the music. All were really awesome if you ask me. Watch the movie for yourself and you’ll understand.
