Loooong dose of romance

Jab Tak Hai Jaan can be summarized in one line that it is an overdose of typical Yash Raj stuff.  What really is love and what is being in love with the concept of love?Realities are smashed throughout the movie. When an aged Shahrukh acts young and takes Meera or Katrina out on a night to be her real self much like Jack in Titanic sweeping off Rose to the lower decks. The girl has a good time and suddenly falls in love with the guy. Though she is engaged to be wed to another, probably a recurring theme in Bollywood.

The ultra careful and focused bomb expert Samar Anand cannot keep vehicles off him in London being thoroughly distracted by the women in his life. There is a movie called ’Closer’ where there is this concept of an outsider not used to road rules being hit by a vehicle in London. Don’t expect anything like this in Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

One of the best things in this movie is that it has brought up the theme of bizarre reasons when people in love leave or abandon each other. They sometimes get second chances and yet they try to blow it. A god fearing Christian girl asks her love of life to leave her town so that she can live her life away from him.

He also agrees to leave the town but never moves on in life later colliding head on with practical and cooler generation next character of Anushka Sharma. Well one of the highs in this movie is the scene when she takes off her clothes for a swim. A character which is wasted I would say in this movie since it had a lot of potential and wish she was not so talkative.

Cinematography and locations are as usual awesome but ARR’s music kind of disappoints. Katrina surprised with her subdued controlled performance. She’s just too good in these roles which require her to be reserved whether it was Rajneeti, Ek tha Tiger or this, she sails off. Shahrukh’s older soldier version rocks and brings memories of Chak de. Though I just got irritated with his stereotypical tight black tees and Aviator glasses.

If you want a tormenting long dose of romance please watch this and with due respect to Yash Chopra.
