When I saw the ads of - name the
movie and win prizes for Jab we met, I thought to myselfnot another one of
those tacky, disastrously cute stuff with these 2.and who is this Imtiaz Ali
with high hopes on this pair again!. When I found out that this guy had also
directed Socha na tha a while ago, I decided to check out Jab we met.and it
was totally worth it! What genuine story telling, what a lovely
not-in-your-face-but-natural comedy, what a sweet way to convey a message in
eternal optimism, what beautifully embedded songs, what characterisation,
performances, a true romantic comedy this one.without the saccharine, mushy or
overtly sentimental stuff.cheeni kum na zyaada.just purrfectly right! Some
movies appeal in parts, some in concept, some in music, some in dialogues.but
this one appeals totally in all aspects. The characters are so real and the
memory brings a smile. Imtiazs team has really taken care - be it by not
adorning the heroine in lacy clothes on the Manali trip, or doing away with
Geeths red nail polish in her troubled times only to be back again when she is
ready to marry, or giving Adityas mother no dialogues, and numerous other
little things. From Ansumans nahalana, to dadajis ladka-ladki philosophy, to
bhaag jaana with the behan, to Ratlam ki galiyan and hotel decent, every reel
keeps u entertained! The scene where Aditya just sprints away at Geeths
hammering questions is a masterpiece.reminds me of the various occasions I
have done this mentally when I am being lectured! The Aditya-Geeth chemistry is
excellent, Shahid-Kareena and their personal lives notwithstanding.and this
is where the director excels.
This fresh treat from Imtiaz Ali is worth
owning a copy, especially since you get a DVD on Mosebear.must say that was a
cool move.piracy is non existent for this movie!
