Jadavpur University is a premier Public research university located in Jadavpur. It was established in 1955 and as of 2015 it has more than 1500 students. Suranjan Das is the current Vice-Chancellor. The motto of this university is’To Know is to Grow.’
Currently there are two campuses of this university. The main campus is in Jadavpur, beside Raja S.C Mallik Road and the other is in salt lake. There are a lot of departments of technological studies as well as general studies. It is the second best in terms of technological studies in West Bengal only after IIT Kharagpur. It also has a huge playground on the main campus for the students to indulge in outdoor activities.
