After the lacklustre films of the last few years, Rajinikanth is back in top form with Jailer. As a hardcore Thalaivar fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this mass entertainer that has trademark Rajini swag, style and punch dialogues.
Rajinikanth looks super fit and energetic as Muthuvel, a feared jailer who stands up against corruption in the prison system. His endearing bond with his daughter is a heartwarming track. Rajinis comic timing remains spot on in lighthearted moments.
The action sequences are packed with energy and choreographed sharply, especially the prison riot scene which is a adrenaline rush.Tamil cinema legend Sivaji Ganesans cameo was a pleasant nostalgic surprise. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan glams up in songs, while Ramya Krishnan leaves a mark as the evil antagonist.
Anirudh Ravichanders songs and background score elevate the impact of emotional and action scenes. The writing has clever references to Rajinis previous films and dialogues with punchlines tailor-made for whistles. Production design of the prison set looks realistic.
Although the plot is predictable with some overly dramatic moments, the narrative keeps you engaged. As a diehard Superstar fan, I had a blast watching Jailer in the theater and would recommend it to all Rajinikanth fans. Leave your brains behind and enjoy Thalaivars mass charisma on screen after a long time. Jailer will be a treat for commercial cinema lovers who like punch dialogues, comedy, action and Rajinis larger-than-life star power.
