I visited Jaislamer in Oct end-Nov beginning which I thought was the perfect time in terms of the weather...it was neither very hot or cold....as I said it was just PERFECT!
I stayed at three different hotels at the Fort, facing different directions each time! The rooms were royal looking done up to make one feel like a king/queen…each room has little windows with sitting areas overlooking the entire city n in the distance the sunrise or sunset depending on location of ur room. They are clean and have nice simple bathrooms.
The camel safari is an experience in itself….i took a 2 night 3 day trip…and I enjoyed it thoroughly.Yea my thighs did get a lil sore but nuthin that I couldnt handle!!and sleeping under the stars and wakin up to sunrise is just awesome…u can make a 100 wishes coz of all the shooting stars you see!!!The camel Driver cooks up a nice simple meal of rice, vegetable in dal and Rotis....very basic but very tasty. For Breakfast, you have the choice of salty oatmeal, biscuits, fruits and tea.
Shopping outside the fort is a few rupees cheaper than doing it inside the fort!!
The food was so-so…i relished the “thalis” with authentic rajasthani cuisine!I found most of the food in the restaurants to be rather bland....that is probably because they have such a huge turn out of foreigners who would leave them a bigger tip, so I guess they would rather cater to their needs than ours!!he he
i would suggest not to venture into the non veg world here coz rajasthan being a pre-dominantly veg state.....they do not cook non veg too well.I remember ordering butter chicken coz I have to eat my non veg....well I got a different version of it....no it didnt taste all that bad but id rather not do it the next time around.
