This one place is definitely going to floor you. On the outer ring road, between Marathahalli & K R Puram if you are driving, in the day time, you will notice a new Mosque that has popped up recently. I saw that a couple of times and did not give it a second thought. Till, I drove on the same road on a Saturday night. The whole place was lit with bright light. On closer look I saw a small board. “Jalsa” Bar & Restaurant. Ahaa, its not a mosque.
Finally I visited the place the next Saturday night with the family. (You should visit this place in the evenings only, to get the full experience) The first sight that greets you when you enter the tall arches of the gate is the sight of some ladies standing to welcome you. In full Mughal regalia.
The first thought that occurred my mind was “Oh my god, is this a Dance bar?” With my wife and kids in tow, a dance bar may not be the right option. The ladies escorted us inside. It was almost dark, with some blue light coming here and there. It took some time for the eyes to adjust and what a sight!! The hall we entered has small cubicles attached to the sides.
The cubicles are covered with curtains made of glass pieces and all of them were shining. All the more shady. They gave a corner cubicle, where the seating is like mughal durbar. On a low diwan type sofa, with short tables. The server came a gave a “shayari” in Urdu, which none of us understood. However we were quick to say “wah, wah”. Think, that’s why he repeated it a few more times. The food we tried was really good. But very rich. Not for health conscious people.
The mutton was excellent. The bill was slightly high but, the experience was worth. I have completed my third visit in 1 month. With my family first, friends next and with my colleagues last. Every time the people who came with me got shocked the first time they entered. Worth trying out once. Especially in the evening. (and do not carry bundles of 100/500 rupee notes to throw ?)
