Hell 2

Bollywood somehow seems to be going through a creative bankruptcy what with so many  sequels /remakes one after another .The lack of original ideas and scripts surely reflects in Jannat 2 which has been made with a sole intention to earn some quick bucks. This also explain why the film has been titled Jannat 2(J2) when there is actually no correlation between the first part and the new part(J2).

The film narrates the story of Sonu Dilli(Emraan Hashmi) who carries an illegal business of arms supplying .He falls in love with a doctor(Esha Gupta) and wants to leave the crime world .But he gets trapped in a conspiracy laid by a police officer(Randeep Hoonda) which changes his life forever.

Nothing stands out in Jannat 2. Everything has been treated so shabbily and carelessly. The romantic part is cute initially but looses its charm after a point .The emotional part falls flat . The action scenes too are nothing to rave or rant about .It is a tacky flick like all Bhatt productions which has been made on a shoe string budget and offers nothing new in terms of style and technique.

The story is interesting initially but  becomes really tiresome after a point .The twist and turns do not really work here as you can already guess the entire plot in way too advance .The biggest crime any film can commit is to bore you . Even that would have been Pardonable had the film been aided by some grand production values but there is nothing in the film that merits a watch . ‘Save the budget, maximize the profit’ seems to be the only mantra of producer of this film .Tv serials that are seen on tv are more grander this tacky flick. Also like all Bhatt flicks, there are loads of expletives and sex scene which have been added just to multiply the box office prospectus and appear really forced. Especially I found that particular scene where Emraan is indulging in “some action” with a p*rostitute and gets caught by Randeep very distasteful .The target audience here seems to be the front benchers of Single screens .

Any plus points?Oh yes!The film has a mesmerizing musical score that comes as a welcome break from the monotonous narrative .The songs are actually like a breath of fresh air and clearly the best part of the film .Two songs in particular ‘Tu Hi ‘ and ‘Tera Deedar Hua’ are simply haunting .However the unfortunate part is their picturization leaves a lot to be desired .I actually felt I was watching some B grade movie that is really low on every department .

On the acting front, Emraan Hashmi is quite good initially .His antics are very entertaining in the first half but he seems to have got bored after a point .He seems completely mechanical in the second half and least interested in this film .Its the time he moves away from the greedy and cheap Bhatt camp who always portray him in a sleazy /vulgar roles. He is a tremendous talent and deserves better!Esha Gupta looks stunning and her performance is not bad for the first timer .Randeep Hoonda is very good and actually manages to steal some thunder from Emraan Hashmi.

Overall Jannat 2 is a small film with small idea at its core .The film does not respect its audience and has been made just to cash on the popularity of its previous series . The big success of J2  is really a bad news, for this film is nothing more than a money making propaganda .I wish last week’s Tezz had succeeded over this flick for at least it was a grand styish  flick with lots of efforts and money thrown .Unfortunately J2 does not even try .Its just too lazily made .The makers already knew no matter how patchily made, this was going to be a money spinner irrespective of the quality .Overall a complete waste of time and money. The film does not deserve a big screen watch Avoid.
