This was my first 1st day 1st show movie as my holidays have started
and I thought morning show would be better as they are cheaper and also
I had to watch Sachin kick Shoaib in today’s IPL match in the evening.
Now, lets come straight to the movie.I was expecting a great movie
because of cricket and also because of Emraan.Was I dissapointed or
satisfied?
You will come to know about that.
STORY
The movie starts of with Emraan playing cards with some bhais and
at the end of the game he ends up losing 1 lakh rupees of Patel bhai[a
local goon].To pay the money Emraan do betting on the final match at
lords between India and England and he wins quite some money and then
he come to know that he has sixth sense when it comes to betting on
cricket matches.In the meantime, he Also meets a girl, Sonal and falls in
love with her.The story further tells how he become a successfull match
fixer and he starts working with the underworld don Abu Ibhraim [Javed
Sheik] and how his job effects his life and his relationship with
Sonal.
PERFORMANCES
Emraan-I was expecting very much from him after Awarapan and I was
not dissapointed.He did an excellent job and one cannot imagine Jannat
without him.He was simply superb-4.5/5
Sonal-She was looking very beautifull in the movie and she acted well for a newcomer-3/5
Vishal-I personally liked him very much and for me he acted very good-4/5
Javed sheik-He also acted very nicely as Abu the underworld don-3.5/5
Vikram Kochar-As the police officier he had a decent role and he performed with with great supermacy-3.5/5
PLUS POINTS
1.The biggest plus point of Jannat are its performances
excepecially Emraan.Everyone in Jannat from the lead hero to a
supporting actor performed brilliantly and very naturally and this has
been a speciality in Bhatt’s movies.
2.The story of Jannat is very good, different and refreshing and has not been seen before in the Indian cinema.
3.Cricket is a very big advantage in Jannat.Cricket is like a
religion in India and so people can associate themselves easily with
the movie.The movie also includes the Bob Woolmer case.
4.The betting world is shown nicely in the movie and the money
involved in the real world in this job is way beyond are imagination
and thats excactly what is shown in the movie.
NEGATIVE POINTS
1.The biggest weakness of Jannat is its slow pace in the second
half.The movie tends to get boring than and the unnecessary songs make
it even more boring.
2.Jannat is primarily not a cricket movie as it is only its
backdrop.It is mainly a love story and this is its big
weakness.Whenever there is a scene in the movie involving cricket, then
it becomes interesting and whenever its a romantic scene going on then
it becomes a little boring.
3.Sometimes Jannat becomes quite unrealistic as in one scene Emraan
is shown playing with large bags of money and in other scene he is
shown helpless and with no money at all.
MUSIC
Music of Jannat is quite good and zara sa and title song are my favourites but some of them are unwanted in the movie.
BO REPORT
The hall was completely full when I watched the movie.The public
reaction was mixed as some liked the movie very much and for some it
was quite boring movie.Jannat will get a good opening and the overall
public response will be mixed.Cricket will help the movie in a big way
and it would become above average or a hit.
FINAL WORDS
Overall, Jannat was not a bad movie but it could have been better
and it fell below my expectations, The movie was 2.30 hours long and it
could have been trimmed easily by 25 min.To Emraan’s fans this is a
must watch movie and to other people who have some patience should go
for this movie.But to the people looking for a masla movie should stay
at home.Cricket fans should like this movie.
