The journey started with when one of my friends told me about the seats which were vacant in one of the best schools in my District(for lateral entry in 9th class) I.E. Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya, Kothipura, Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. I filled up the form and took the test on my scheduled day. The test went good and I was little confident about my selection. So, after 1 month I got a call That you have been selected and they asked me to report there. I was very happy with my selection. When I reached there, I saw different environment and culture. Students were very enthusiastic about their work and study. I joined my classes there on 24 August 2009. and I got Aravali hostel. Study environment was very different there. It took me 1 year to get used to the environment of this school. But once I got used to it I became a different person than what I used to be before joining this institution. Now I know how to survive when your parents are not around. Teachers were very hard working and brilliant. They used to take extra classes for weak students without any extra pay. The fee structure is very Nominal. You just have to pay Rs200/month if you are a boy from general category. Students who are sc/st/obs are exempted from their fees irrespective of their cast. There are no fees for girls who belong to general category. They will provide you books, note-books, dresses, food, accommodation, daily need items on monthly basis, and even stationary items for free of cost. So if you are studying in some private school which is near to your house, then it will cost you Rs 5000/month If we add the cost of every facility that is provided in the JNVs. So if your children are studying in the fifth class, you can fill the form on the behalf of him. If he/she is not selected then don’t worry. Sometimes some students leave this school between 6th class to 9th class. So you can also try for this school after 9th class as I myself Took admission in 9th class. And sometimes they take students after 10th class on the basis of their performance in 10 class.
So, I suggest everyone that if you want your child to be independent in his early days, send him to one of the best schools in your district i.e. JNvs.
