If you have ever heard of Jay and Silent Bob then you know how funny and vulgar (Jay anyways) can be. Jay and Silent Bob first appeared in a movie called Clerks way back in 1995. Clerks was an independent movie written and directed by Kevin Smith (silent Bob), it was also seen as one of the funniest and most clever movie that year. Anyway, the titular characters of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back have appeared in 3 other movies between Clerks and this. Those movies were Chasing Amy, Mallrats, and Dogma. This is the fifth and final entry into Smiths New Jersey Saga. It is also the last movie that the duo will appear in. In the previous movies they were either extended cameos or just minor important roles. With ...Strike Back they finally get their starring shots and the result is the funniest movie you will see this year if you can handle all the foul language.
The movie starts out explaining the history of the two. It then shows that the rights to a comic that they were the inspiration for have been sold to a hollywood movie studio to be made into a movie. This, when explained why it was bad for them because they got no money, got themm started on a cross country trip from New Jersey to California. The road trip that ensues is the most exciting and hilarious trip you will ever take.
Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith have been at this for awhile so by now theyve perfected what makes these characters great.
Will Ferril also shines as the dimwitted cop who chases them across the country. Also pretty much every main character from the other 4 movies shows up in some kind of cameo, which is fun if not just for the nostalgia.
One suggestion before seeing this movie is to rent the others so you will be in on some of the gags. But even if you dont it is still a great ride.
