I studied at Jaya Engineering College, Chennai, and overall, my experience was quite decent. It’s not a perfect college, but if you go with the right mindset and interest in learning, you can definitely make the most of it.
The faculty in my department were generally helpful. Some teachers were really supportive and guided us well, especially during project work and final-year placements. Of course, not every professor is the same — a few just focus on theory, but there are some who genuinely care about students and help them build confidence.
When it comes to infrastructure, the campus is big and has all the basic facilities — computer labs, library, canteen, and separate blocks for each department. It’s not a luxurious campus, but it’s functional. The canteen food is okay(not great), and the Wi-Fi could be faster, but the college management keeps improving things slowly.
Placements are average but improving. Many IT companies visit during placement season, and if you’re consistent with your studies and communication skills, you can easily get placed. The college also encourages students to participate in symposiums and workshops, which helps a lot in building technical skills.
Overall, I’d say Jaya Engineering College is a good place for someone who wants a solid engineering education without expecting a very high-end campus life. If you stay focused, the college gives you enough opportunities to grow.
