?Oh..so you?re going back to that desert to ride camels??,
Yes, that?s exactly what I hear when I leave India to go to Jeddah. Well, I must say that you all are mistaken if you say that Saudi Arabia, particularly Jeddah, is a desert. Yes, a million years ago it was-but not any more.
Firstly, Jeddah is bordered by the Red Sea..(I?m sure you?ve all heard of that) which produces a cool breeze throughout the city. Furthermore, it has also advanced in technology, though not as much as India has:) so instead of seeing bare land and sandy ruins, you get to see Internet cafes and loads of buildings.
To begin with, I would like to clear up that misunderstanding everyone has in his or her minds ? Saudi Arabia (Jeddah) has got modern transport like any other country. We haven?t gone back in time to be riding on camels and donkeys.
However, the only negative aspect is the weather. It may be summer all year round but so what? Who?s asking you to roam about the roads on your two feet? You can always have a great tour of this wonderful city in your air-conditioned car! But I must say that the temperature has never exceeded 35 degrees here.
In fact, Jeddah in particular has got picturesque sceneries and a most beautiful beach and what not! If you would like to know, Jeddah has got the world?s second largest fountain! Amazing, right?
Whether you?re convinced or not, I?ve done my duty in defending my country and I hope that I?ve assured you that it is NOT a desert from any angle!
