Released in 1996...This is the story of JERRY MAGUIRE played by Tom Cruise.
Jerry is a successful sports agent working for the the firm Sports Management International. He faces a moral dilemma about his ’job’ and decides to take a stand. This stand results in him losing his job and he decides to start his own business.
One of his co-workers DOROTHY BOYD (Renee Zellweger)was so swept up in Jerry’s dream that she quits her job and joins him. Jerry realises things aren’t going to be so easy when his old clients leave him in droves. Only one client...his biggest star...ROD TIDWELL (Cuba Gooding Jr)sticks with him.
From here the movie twists and turns. It is a fun ride with lots of laughs and tender touching moments.
Cuba Gooding Jr won the best supporting actorOSCAR for his performance in this movie.
The acting all round was superb but the real star for me was JONATHON LIPNICKI who played RAY BOYD, DOROTHY’S young son.He seems to steal the limelight in all his scenes.
If you haven’t already seen this movie, give it a go. It is fun, with no violence and a bit sad at times but overall it’s a real ’feel good’ experiance.
