Well, I took a return trip from Bangkok-Calcutta in February 2007 on Jet Airways. The flights were on time. The people at the checkin counter were really nice and helpful. The inflight entertainment was great with lots of choices for a 2.5 hour flight. Meal was good, though I got a vegetarian meal on my first lag.
However, the Jet airways check in counter in outside the security/ immigration of the Sukhumbhit airport. It is located at the fourth floor of the external terminal.
As I had a connecting flight from the US, I could not just check into the Jet flight without passing through immigration. That means that I had to get a travellers visa and also pay the airport charge which totals upto 1700 Bahts. In case you are planning to take the BKK-CCU flight as a international connection, be ready with the Bahts or some dollars to exchange. There is no ATM inside the arrival lounge where you can run your ATM. This BKK-CCU route is really well publicized and seems like they also had an intial offere of flying return from CCU at 6500 Rs. That offer invited a lot of travellers who were not at all concerned about the hygiene of the plane.
They were annoyingly noisy and videographing everything in the plane.
The flight attendents were extra nice meeting all the demands of the annoying, unhappy, feudalistic travellers. The travellers just treated the attendants as their servants! I really admire the flight attendants patience. Jet can rule in Asia as an International Carrier.
The Guwahati-Calcutta flight was also on time and had all the virtues of the international flight except the inflight enetertainment.
Overall a good experience and I am happy that I flew Jet.
