Wow!!

My experience with Jet Airways has been really really good, all the time I flew. Not sure if I should call myself lucky, after reading some of the reviews here which were not appreciative at all. Probably because when you are a corporate traveller, you dont feel the pinch since the money is not from your pocket!

I had jet as my local leg to my connecting flight to chicago from delhi on american airlines. And since that was a business class ticket, I could fly business class on the local leg(BLR DEL) too! Apart from the food and the wider seats it was just usual. The spacing between seats is not that great, either in business or economy.

I have found the jet staff very very polite and helpful. And I was not even an elite member! They seem to be treating everyone with due respect and coutesy. Service wise I will call them better than many of the international airlines. No exaggerations here.

The lack of inflight entertainment in local flights within India(in both classes) is a big drawback. 2.5 hours between bangalore and delhi seems like eternity, business class not withstanding! I think jet should add that, and they are as good as any of the new airlines like Kingfisher(never flown it).

Folks like me dont give a damn about how young the airhostesses are, as long as they recognize that you are a human being and serve what is asked for! Which seems to be a reasonable demand, but not fulfilled even in much higher profile international airlines.

I find their delhi lounge decent. There is good food to be had, though the ambience is not what I call great.

Another great thing about Jet is their partnership with foreign airlines like lufthansa, air france, quantas, swiss, south african et al. That way you fly any of these and still can collect your miles in one of them. If you wish to redeem ur foreign trip miles inside india, collect all of them on Jet. They have no hesitations in redeeming miles flown on partners for local flights inside india. But there is a catch here though - since you dont buy a jet ticket, they dont get revenue and so, irrespective of how frequently you fly, you dont become an elite member! This is something frequent travellers on foreign airlines should keep in mind!

Or one could fly lufthansa and if you have a local segment in the same ticket(say you fly from cochin to blr on jet, and then lufthansa from bangalore to frankfurt), you can collect your local miles(cochin blr) on lufthansa! Thats a lot of flexibility.

For elite members, jet opens a world of privileges. I am sure none of their elite folks will ever switch to any other airline! Some day I intend to fly business class on their international connections! I am sure it will be "joy of flying".
