Hopeless service

Following are my travel details and as mentioned, this mail is about a well wishers worry.

Flight No: 9W 0075  Hong Kong- Mumbai


Travel date - 26th oct 2013


Seat no: -52 H


I am a specialist professional in marine industry hence even though not a frequent traveler, it would about a dozen travels in a year.


My latest visit to Korea with Jet Airways and Korean Airways ended today and today morning I am back home.


It was a beautiful stay in Korea and I was returning home with lots of smile on my face but it ended on your flight 9W 0075 as mentioned above.


To the point I would sum it up to " Hostile hospitality by the male cabin crew  ". Rather I would call them as " Bouncers on board" .


Situation 1. Fellow passenger requests for a glass of water when the flight was delayed and not yet taxied even. Male cabin crew:  A hostile hand gesture to hold that thirst. What run through my mind: As if he is under some commercial pressure.


Situation 2. Distribution of snacks. Same male cabin crew.: Desi style with all snack reel and tearing one by one and and a weird gesture asking one passenger to pass it on to other. What run through my mind: Ya desi style is cool but not this man and not here when he is representing my country there has to be some better way to display our culture. Situation 3. One more guest asks for water once flight was airborne and stable Same bouncer: Forgets and after the guest reminds after about half an hour an excuse the belt sign was on. What run through my mind: Dint understand the technicality in that. I saw him walking all around that time.


Situation 4: Drops a sealed cup of water on me


Bouncer: Picks it from my lap and goes off.STRANGE, Not a word of apology Me: Abusing in mind.


Situation 5: Open two cans of drink at a time and places in front of me though I have not asked. and says " I am giving You two at a time."


Bouncer: Very proud that he has the authority to decide how I should have service.


Me:    May be he has got the entire understanding of system around him wrong. Let his belief save himself.


These were just five incidents which I could notice while I was awake.If averaged with the number of travelers, it could be a shocking census.


None of the above actually affects me but I report it because:

  1. I believe if some thing I see wrong it needs to be reported. Several such reports would bring out changes.

  2. It does represent the culture of my country to other foreign national. In this view I would remind u that I was just out from a Korean  flight and people were really taken care off. I felt " being cared "

  3. The management might be spending a lot on the training but may not be well received by the trainees. Could be there some missing link. I have no right to bother about this but I  put up this up this point because money is money and must be some ones hard earned.Such matters should not be the reasons that affect to our much established airline ambassador.
