S2-542.Colombo-Chennai, The horror began when we reached Colombo International aiport-Sri Lanks at mid-night for the flight which departs at 03:20 am.The reason I took this flight I because I had to be back in mumbai as early as I could...But As went entered the airport the information screens displayed the flight was rescheduled and will now leave at 05:50 am.
If this flight was to leave at 05:50 am what was the guarantee the flight wont get delayed further? If that happended I was surely going to miss my connection on Jet Airways from Chennai-Bombay at 09:10 am and my entire schedule for the day was have got upset..
No information was provided to us for the delay by e-mail or sms.my phone works on international roaming.
Srilankan Airline handles ground duties for Jetlite from Colombo Airport and we were informed by the Sri Lankan ground staff that Jetlite usually occupies counter number 21-22 for check in.The flight arrving from Chennai had already landed at 00:40 hrs but was delayed to return, no one could give an explanation why the flight was delayed.
At about 3 am the counters for check in opened when asked an explanation for the delay there wasnt any appropriate answer, Jetlite did not care about the stranded passenger to offer them even a bottle of water forget anything to eat for a delay of about 3hrs in my case I was at the airport for over 6hrs.
If ur stuck in a foreign country where u have finished all ur US dollars, the local currency and in a country where u cannot exchange Indian rupees at the airport you willl die of thirst all thanks to airlines like Jetlite.
But I had a saving grace since I hold a "Priority Pass" I can access Airport lounges around the world which made my life easier.But imagine the state of the elderly, women and children.This airline just did not care about anything...
Finally we boarded at 05:35 and the flight took off at 6:00 am the aircraft looked clean, nice leather seats, they had given me a seat 1-A since im a Elite Tier member with Jet Privilege and then they served the most horrible airline meal I have even seen till date forget eating it...
Its thier famous snack box..consisting a veg roll (seemed it was prepared 18hrs ago), muffin (rock hard) juice not (cold) and water bottle (fine)...it all looked so inedible, To top it all the veg roll was ice cold that I decided to give the entire SNACK BOX a miss.
NO tea-coffe is served because they are a Value Ariline.I think the tea/coffee costs less than the, over sweetned mango juice they serve...A person like me expects a cup of tea on a morning 6am flight if nothing more, I dont even mind paying for it..But they were "Sorry Sir"
During the flight I was informed by a Co-passenger that this flight is getting delayed for the last one week everyday...Which even the cabin crew agreed too..due to some landing right issues at chennai airport.Then why dont they inform the passenger if they are so well aware for the delay beforehand
After the meal service the crew was only visible when I was deplaning.But thats ok because even if you needed something they would not have it...
Landed in Chennai the Jetlite ground staff was only helping some Foreigners (White Skin-nothing against those passenger) who had missed their onward connection...
Indian who had missed thier connections were treated like go get yourself sorted out. Isnt that A Discriminatory Act by an Airline which belongs to India?????
Since I fly regularly I knew wht was to be done next.So I moved to the domestic terminal to sort out my connecting flight which I had not missed by luck.But Jet Airways was very helpful and quickly checked me in..
On my way into Colombo I flew Air India express as tht was the first flight out of Chennai into Colombo 07:30 am departure..A Smooth check in, on time departure clean aircraft friendly crew and not exceptional but a tasty and hot snack served with tea/coffee all for the price 50% lesser than Jetlite.
The parent company Jet Airways needs to understand that by just giving thier name to this horrible airline they cannot fool people.The consumer is well aware of everything these days they really need to change their strategy or low cost airlines like Indigo whill eat into Jetlites share of business.Also Jet Airways is collecting a lot of disgrace for itself by giving this absymal airline its name...
Jet Airways is top class and the need to take care of their image that Should not get spoilt at the hands of their " lite-r " variety..
This particular review is in deep contrast to my earlier review on Jetlite when it was just purchased by Jet Airways..That time my review about the airline was good..(since then I have only flown Jet Airways) As the new changes had just begun to take place then...But now since its changed and its completely "AWFUL"
I just kept quiet and did not utter a single word all through this experience right from the minute I entered Colombo airport till the time I came out of Chennai Airport.As I knew the Jetlite staff was not worth to even talk about this particular episode.
Hence im writing this review to alert all you who plan to fly this airline..
Last but not the least you can travel by this airline if you like your flights getting delayed and you like staying at International Airports for endless hours without any water and food.
If you like getting served food which is "just dont ask about it types" .
If you like to receive Discriminatory service from the staff because you are Indian.
and If you like to pay fares more than the competiton on the same sector which also provides better service.
You may then choose to Fly Jetlite..But not me never again.
