What
do we all aspiring film makers want?
Good
films……good stories….good screenplays which impress….and a film which ignites a
fire within us as if saying yes you too can make it….isnt it?
What
do the audiences expect from a film?
A
good film….a good n a well narrated story……this is also true na?
My
asking the above two questions has a meaning and that meaning is very simple
that on the whole it is entertainment along with a common sense right?
And
not an expectation(of both the producer and the audience) of an empty theatre
with few uninterested people sitting and cribbing about the film and are forced
to sit in the theatre because of the high cost of the ticket they have paid for
a film……
Exactly!
This is the case in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom because what one does is only - Script
ko Dhoondh barabar Dhoondh….
Believe
me! A new film maker or a struggling director would be ready to sacrifice
one of his arm and a leg for the kind of starcast shaad ali got for JBJ(my version is
SDBD:-))……imagine
Abhishek Bachchan….Priety Zinta….Bobby Deol….Lara Dutta and above all Amitabh
Bachchan….a dream team of technicians like…….Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Gulzar
kind of people working for you and you churn out a total dudd….a meaningless
film from the start till the end….
I
mean in the film industry few of the intelligent directors with brilliant
subjects don’t even get a chance to say action and cut and here is Shaad Ali
who delivers such a horrible flick from the offices of the reputed yrf
banner….
Yaar
if this is the kind of filmmaking which is appreciated by a reputed banner like
yrf then they should instead hire media students atleast they will make some
brilliant and sensible films….i know I am sounding a bit rude and harsh but
that is what I feel….
There
are 3 things that you can talk about JBJ and those are
MUSIC by S-E-L very hummable…melodious….foot
tapping……
LYRICS
by Gulzaar saab…very intelligent….poetic….thoda difficult hain but if u
understand the meaning u love it……I mean Gulzaar saab ek hi aise lyricist hain
jo raat ko chikni bata ke uspar fislan bata ke apni baat keh jaate hain….chand
ko saabun(Soap) bata ke keh dete hain ki thodi der mein pighal jaayega…I mean
he is simply amazing but yahan ek aur problem hai baaki aspiring lyricists ke
liye….agar woh Gulzaar saab se inspire hokar aisi thinking apne andar le aate
hain toh its good but chances are that those poetic and meaningful lyrics may
get rejected just because they are not written by Gulzaar saab J
CINEMATOGRAPHY
is very good in the film and very eye pleasing….the visuals around the Eiffel
tower area are quite eye pleasing….but somehow I did not agree to the zoom ins
and zoom outs used in the film as this kind of taking was left by
cinematographers ages back yaar….
Baaki
the whole film is a disappointment……
Big
B kya kar rahe the film mein….God alone knows what forced him to do it….
Abhishek
looks good but overacts at certain places….
Priety
looks good but does not impress at all….
Bobby
looks neat too but apni comedy ko thoda sa improve kar lega toh amazing actor
ban jaayega comedy genre mein….
Lara
Dutta is amazing and her timing is perfect….this is the first time she looks
confident as if saying “here I come”……
There
are very very few moments where a little laughter is evoked but rest is all
silly….waste….ghatiya aur waahiyaad….
Frndzz
with u I would like to share some comments which I over heard in the theatre
which barely had 30-35 people(Screen 3 of Inorbit mall) on 19th
June 2007 5 pm show….
A group of friends shouting
“Yeh
humse kis janam ka badla le rahe ho”
*I was walking out to get popcorns and
snacks during the interval and two girls walking ahead of me were talking which
I over heard….*
Girl 1 - “Yaar I have never seen a
worst film than this and the first half is toh total pakaau”
Girl 2 – “Sweetheart aage aage dekh
hota hai kya….there’s more to come….”
Girl 1 – “Nahhhhhiiiiiiii….”
So
all in all you guys got it na?
Bus
ab toh yahi gaana gaao ki
“Shaad
Ali tu Script dhoondh barabar…dhoondh barabar….dhoondh barabar……DHOONDH BARABAR DHOONDH”
