Ghoom Barabar Ghoom

Thats the perfect title for this YRF extravaganza.your head really

starts spinning after watching what could probably be one of the worst

Yashraj productions ever(Neal and Nikki wins the top slot **)

Story:

Busy London station.Delayed train from Birmingham. Two strangers

waiting for the train. Rikki Thukral [Abhishek Bachchan], born in

Bhatinda, living in London  and Alvira Khan [Preity Zinta], more Brit

than the Queen herself, however with Lahori blood in her veins.

Crowded café. One table to share. Two hours to kill. Perfect setting

for the start of a love-story. Hitch? Both Rikki and Alvira are engaged

and have come to pick up their fiancés, who are coming by the same

train. To kill time, they end up telling each other their “how I met my

fiancé” stories.

Stories unfold, time passes, the two strangers start enjoying each

other. Actually, they have gotten alarmingly attracted to each other! Courtesy:IMDb

Performances:

Abhishek

Bachchan is irritatingly loud and uncouth.Seriously could have done

with a better profile.Preity Zinta is Preity Zinta throughout.not

once does she look or feel like Alvira Khan. Lara Dutta was

alright.looked a little alluring in parts.Bobby Deol was the one

actor who was not that bad.he actually made me laugh in parts .

Pros:

1)Good cinematography by Ayananka Bose for most of the movie.though certain camera angles make your head spin.

2)Very

good choreography.Vaibhavi Merchant must’ve really worked a

lot.because even though most of the steps in all songs are

easy.they are well performed and synchronised.

3)Excellent

locations in true Yashraj style.be it London, India or Paris.all

are well shot.all locations look beautiful.

4)Amitabh

Bachchan’s dance during the opening credits.man he sure can carry

off probably the most ridiculous costume in Hindi film history.

5)A bearable 40 mins post interval.after that it gets horrible again.

Cons:

Hahaha.lots of them.

1)Ridiculous story to

begin with.Absolutely unbelievable and highly stretched(even though the

movie is just 2 hours and 15 mins it seems stretched.just imagine).

2)The

first half of the movie is terrible and the dance competition

sequence(20 mins) is unbearable.Very poor writing from Habib Faisal.

3)Amitabh Bachchan performing his’dance number’ time and again in the movie.irritating.

4)The

worst costumes in films i’ve ever seen.no one I know wears anything

remotely close to what the actors wear in the movie.especially

Abhishek’s and Amitabh’s costumes.Terrible’creativity’ if that is what

Aki Narula would call it.

5)Abhishek’s friend is drinking booze from a bottle called Chak De Phattey.

6)Almost all songs are useless.all they do is slow the pace of a non-existent story.

My Verdict:

Jhoom

Barabar Jhoom should be watched for superior technicals and great

locations.Beyond these if you try to look for anything else you’re

looking in vain.Possibly one of Yashraj’s and Bollywood’s worst

productions.
