Yashraj... Take a break

Well, back to writing a review after a long time.

And unfortunately have to write a review on a movie which has to ranked low.

Jhoom barabar Jhoom, the latest from Yashraj camp, arguably the most

successful production house in the country, was much hyped before the

release itself. But sad.... JBJ doesn’t live up to the expectations.

Frankly speaking, I didn’t have any expectations from the movie and I

succumbed to all the hype created by the media and my friends and

ultimately went ahead to watch the movie.

And alas... what a waste of time. Abhishek is getting to look worse

with each passing film. And what an irony, the movie name suggests

dance and what great dancers been cast in the movie... Abhishek

Bacchhan(the worst thing that can happen to dance, May Lord Nataraja

forgive Yashraj films.)

Believe me friends, even the Deols are better dancers when compared to Abhishek.

So the film starts with an extremely unhygienic and shapeless looking

Abhishek Bacchhan and a very plastic Preity Zinta. Both waiting for

their fiancees at the train station. Predictably, they develop an

attraction and bla bla bla.

Lets not waste your time with the story which is actually non existent.

Shaad Ali is degrading with every coming movie. Saathiya was good but

it seemed like a frame by frame remake of  Maniratnam’s original

Tamil version. So actually, Shaad had nothing to do with Saathiya being

a good movie.

Bunty and Babli was actually foolish and the movie insulted intelligence of the audience.

And now comes his third film, JBJ which is the worst of all.

A story which is not there, actors who dont know how to act and a director who doesn’t know what direction means.

The only saving grace of the movie is its title track composed well by

Shankar Ehsaan Loy and with beautiful lyrics by Gulzar. Overall, the

other songs are just ok.

Nobody can bear a movie for over two hours just for a 5 minute track. Amitabh rocks in the title track though.

Talking about the performances.

Abhishek as Rikki does an ok job but boy.... he really needs to look

atleast hygienic if not handsome. He’s a total disappointment as always.

Preity looks good as Alvira Khan but just about ok when it comes to acting skills.

Bobby Deol though doesn’t have a substantial role to play, he still is the better one amongst the lot.

Lara Dutta looks stunning and does a decent job.

Other characters dont really deserve a mention.

Overall... JBJ is better avoided. Instead get the songs VCD of JBJ and keep repeating the title track. Amitabh just rocks.
