I’ve been using Jio for the last few days for voice and data and I’m impressed.
Voice Quality:
The voice quality is excellent in general. When the other party was connected via Jio4GVoice app, the audio quality was less than ideal. But on any regular phone call, it’s way better than any of the current operators.
Connection Quality:
The signal is usually 4/5 within city+ suburbs.
I have had long calls during a drive and never had a “Sorry that wasn’t audible, can you say that again” moment within the city / suburbs! No call disconnects either.
In the last few days, I had just one no-signal scenario in between two villages on a road. Having faced a lot of no-signal / call drops with both Airtel / Vodafone in Chennai for several years this is wonderful.
Call Connects / Interconnect:
There are real issues here. Most of the times making a call to a Airtel / Vodafone user requires a few attempts before being able to make a call(calling BSNL was mostly OK). If I get a network busy message, I usually connect via the 2nd SIM. Mornings and Evenings are when this issue happens most.
If your ability to make / receive calls to other network providers is important(it usually is), you can’t switch to Jio as your only service provider until this issue is resolved.
