Firstly, I would urge potential buyers of JioFi device from Reliance Jio to think why they want it in the first place. If they want it to replace their wired broadband internet then it’s a bad idea. And if you want it as you travel often, even then it’s a bad idea, as Jio network is pathetic in general, esp. while travelling across cities ( or within large metros/cities) . So, having used a JioFi-4 device over the past year or so, here’s my feedback on its pros -
Pros ( JioFi-4 used) -
Good option if one doesn’t have ANY wired / Wi-Fi internet services in the locality. Helps conserve phone battery ( when used as Hotspot) .
Jio network is very inconsistent. So, in some areas one can get as high as 9Mbps while in some places it may be as low as in 10–100 Kbps. In such cases, you can buy a JioFi for ‘nostalgic’ reasons - it will remind you of dial-up modem of late 1990s : -)
Enables multiple devices to be connect simultaneously
Offers decent Voice quality on calls thru Jio4GVoice App, but found Voice Quality way better in a VoLTE phone with same SIM in same locality
Good option for using Jio for mainly data, and maybe voice calls thru their Jio4GVoice App on any phone. It’s a cheaper option.
