I have been using this Jio TV app for more than a year. I try to watch live TV whenever I am not neary own television of my home. But it was not comfortable right from the day it was launched till today. Some shows I had to watch in this TV but the experience is really bad and getting even worse as the time progresses. I am sharing my own difficult experience on this app so that my readers get an idea and think before chosing it to use. The reasons for which I do not recommend this app are as follows:
Slow loading: It doesnot matter whether I am on broadband wifi or cellular data or jio network itself, the channel list takes not less than 5 minutes to load fully. When I tap a channel to view it also starts buffering slowly even in low quality. This is not ideal for an online TV app. The uncomfortable slow loading of the channels can be viewed from the images I provided below.
Concept: The Jio TV is very poor in its concept. Some of its channel like MTV, AXN etc, can be viewed only live, you cannot view the past programs on these channels which is not expected from a live TV. The ’Star’ network channels open into the ’ Hotstar’ app directly from the Jio TV which is weird. The fact that you have to log in to the app again making the Jio TV much more unpleasant.
Features and function: It has a unique feature of tv recording which has again some flaws. The live only TV channels of MTV, AXN cannot be recorded.
Layout: The layout of Jio TV is very backdated with reddish background and shades of grey here and there. Layout needs the most improvement as it is not much attractive to watch.
Thus, I am concluding the review saying the Jio TV is of no use as its quality standards is below average. Hence I do not recommend this app to anyone.
