Kudos to Mahesh bhatt for bringing us some much needed oomph in the form of Bipasha Basu. After a long time, I saw something tasteful and erotic on hindi screen.you get to see it all the time in Hollywood movies, but here it is a rarity. Alas, the attempt fails because of slow pace.and miserable acting by the lead pair.In fact, the supporting cast does much, much better. But then, why run a sincere effort into the ground? So, we have a drunk lawyer in the small town of picturesque Pondicherry who is going nowhere and has to be dragged off to work after a night of seriuous drinking.the movie starts on a deja vu note giving u a good glimpse of what is to come.In that way, it is already a letdown.Kabir(John Abraham) sees Sonia(Bipasha Basu) doing a Ursula Andress number from Dr No and is besotted by her.She leads him on and they both fall in love. We come to know that her husband Rohit(gulshan Grover) is a businessman who is very ruthless in life and in business too.And she is neglected by him and hnece she turns to our man, who readily obliges her!!Now we come to the real meat of the story.that is, she wants the husband out of the way.How the lovers plot the whole thing and the denouement of this forms the rest of the story. Acting wise, Bipasha and John try to bring some semblance of emotion on their faces but fail miserably.the supporting cast led by Anahita Uberoi, Pathak and Ranvir sheorey do a good job.Especially Pathak as Kabirs friend who is a cop.an actor to watch out for, this guy. The photography by fuwad Kahna deserves a special mention.I did not know that Pondi looked so good.He has made me a fan of Pondi now.
the real hero of the movie is M M Kreems music. This guy comes out with mind blowing numbers which are soothing on the nerves. Not any clap trap stuff being churned out in the name of music nowadays. This movie has generated a lot of hype because of its unusual and hot theme. But see it on its own merit and u will appreciate the effort that has gone into it.Pretty good viewing if you have nothing to do on a wintry evening.
