I know, I am swimming against the tide and writing a review for(or I should say-"Against") JA.
But I am helpless.The film failed to impress me.Even not after watching it twice in the theatre!
I saw it the first time.as a movie buff.It had Hrithik, its an Ashutosh Gowarikar film! How can it fail!.But that’s not the story here.It fails.not miserably.but sluggishly!
And then I decided to give it a second try.for liking it.but.Alas! no change in my feelings!
The problem with JA is it’s screenplay to be’more’ precise.not the script.The script is GREAT!
Ashu(Director) narrates the story with aplomb courage.but what is the film about?
It’s neither here.nor there!
Neither is it an heart-aching love story between Jodha & Akbar.neither is it a biography of great deeds.a bio on the Mughal Emporer, Akbar!
Only the love-story is well built up(to an’extended’ extent).because that too, fails in the end!
The love story between the couple.is the best and the only thing to watch in JA.nothing else at all!
Even the songs.Come on A.R.Rahman.what went wrong.what happened to the guy of the recent "Rang De Basanti" & "Guru"!
Totally 3.1/2(Three & a half) scenes stand out in the whole film.
1)The food sequence.Aishwarya eating the food first and then offering to Hrithik.
2)The misunderstanding sequence.It is an excellent turning point in writing point of sense.
3)The sword fight between Hrithik and Ash.It brings out the innocent love in Hrithik
nd the 1/2)The last, climax fight scene.Very well done.but not fully!
The length is another majot detterennt.The film does not take name to stop!
Ashutosh.I bow down to you for showing courage and making you courage work in the form of JA.but we would appreciate another "Lagaan" or even "Swades" in that sense!
Cinematography is not in pace.Sometimes.its EXTRAORDINARY and sometimes.its DULL.
Music is a dissapointment."Jashn-e-bahaara" stands out due to its lyrical value."Azeem-o-shaan shehanshah" stand out in choreography view point.
Dialogues are another sore point.They are difficult to be understood.by the time you understand one dialogue, the film goes ahead 15 minutes!
Hrithik, Hrithik, Hrithik, Hrithik and only and only Hrithik.is the major saving grace of JA.What a performance! He is the BEST in business today.
I would not like to comment on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.only 1 thing."The Lesser, The Better"!
Sonu sood excels in his role.he shows that he is a versatile actor!
I know many people are not going to agree with this review.but I cannot express false feelings.not for films atleast!But that’s what Mouthshut is for.for writing down whatever you think!
At the end, I would only reccomend it for Hrithik.
