John Jacobs just a Marketing Gimmick?

(Following is just my opinion, feel free to post your point of view rather than just dissing me.)

I recently ordered eyewear from both the in-house brands of Lenskart -Vincent Chase(VC) and John Jacobs(JJ)- JJ is a brand at least twice as expensive as VC so one would expect better quality from JJ but on the contrary, I found the hinges of VC to be much better than JJ’s specs.

I even bothered to venture to a Lenskart store and ask the same question to the Lenskart executive that, "Why is JJ better than VC?", All he did was mumble some technical terms and when I called his bluff, he gave me a pair from both the brands and asked me to be the judge myself. The sales executive also gave me some random excuse that VC frames would be bent out of shape after usage but what he didn’t know is that I was wearing a VC frame which I purchased two years back. They don’t seem to have any sort of professional training. The only things I ended up concluding from my visit to the store was that Lenskart sales team are only good for show.

One more observation I had on the Lenskart website was that they never show the frames from JJ and VC on the same homepage. You can try putting all the filters you want but you won’t see those frames side by side.

Just to prove my point, these are two very similar frames(They are made from the same material as confirmed by Lenskart customer care executive), one from each brand.

Vincent Chase: product id - 131928, VC E11848-C1 Eyeglasses

John Jacobs: product id - 131249, JJ E11723-C2 Eyeglasses

There is a difference of Rs. 2000 in the MRP of the aforementioned products.

Maybe JJ is just a virtual yardstick created by Lenskart to make its VC line of products seem better value for money hence making it more lucrative a deal than it really is.
