Might be he was bold when pawan kalyan (brother of star chiranjeevi) decided to direct one of his films on his own. But its not even one week since the release of movie, the actor might have already realized that it was a costly experiment and he should have had some class room lessons about directing a movie that public wants.
This is the first movie of the actor after a big gap of two years since kushi (a tamil remake), which indeed did well. Then he decided to get into direction. And selected his dear actress Renu desai (rumored to be his would be) to venture into this directionless adventure.
The basic weakness that the movie suffers throughout is the trick of the debu director to mix art with action. Action packed western style kick boxing goes on one side.. and his girl friend suffering from acute leukemia, whom he gets married to (before knowing about the illness.. luckily for the viewers), turns out to be exactly opposite in nature. She always appears in sarees. This character is not dynamic and it hits the movie hard. Both the actor and actress looked much better in their earlier movie together, badri.
And to bring some artistic feel into the movie, he must have fired the make-up man, the hero appears to be tired and worn out most of the times. The air of enthusiasm which was an integral part of pawan kalyan roles is missing here.
The story would have been a big minus.. but thanx to the director there isn’t much of it. There were some talks that the movie-makers tried to rope in Jennifer Lopez in to a song. But again we were lucky as one can’t imagine J Lo dancing to a typical andhri tune. They put in so much money.. released in 300 theatres (a record in telugu film industry) all over andhra and at some places in Karnataka and TN. It wont be any surprise to me if that number comes down to 15 - 20 within another couple of weeks.
