Jagadishwar Mishra a.k.a Jolly(Akshay Kumar) is one of the struggling lawyers residing in Lucknow, basically hails from Kanpur, living along with Pushpa(Huma Qureshi)and his son. He works as an assistant for famous lawyer Rizvi Sahab, his father was also once a clerk to sahab for 30 years. He wanted to raise his own chamber for full filling his ambition. At the time he has to arrange two Lakh, he knows that he cant make this much huge amount in short time so he lies to a pregnant woman Hina(Sayani Gupta), making her to believe that Jolly talked to sahab about the case and convinces her to give two Lakh as fees, and he would fight for her. But Hina finds out that she was bluffed by Jolly and she commits suicide because she was emotionally broken. Jolly was blamed for her death even from his father, filled with guilt he decides to fight Hinas case and files the PIL. He finds that Hinas husband Iqbal Kasim was killed in an encounter by Inspector Suryaveer Singh(Kumud Mishra) after the day of their marriage in order to get promotion. Jolly breaks the injustice by proving that the real wanted terrorist is Mohammad Iqbal Quadri, for whom police were searching and he had bribed Inspector Singh to set him free, and police had encountered Iqbal Qasim to close the case. Jollys opposing lawyer was Lucknows best lawyer Pramod Mathur(Annu Kapoor) who hired by Singh, and a tough judicial-personal fight was clearly occupied through out the movie. Writer-director Subhash Kapoor brilliantly defines the atmosphere of court and lawyers, perfectly focusing on real issues like corruption, terrorism and under-pressure judges. Judge Tripathy’s(Saurabh Shukla) in Lucknow courtroom was as his best to show up, making the character on pressure and as well as humorous. In the end court announces giving life imprisonment to Suryaveer Singh along with his accomplices for charge of murder, erasing the evidence, misguiding court and showing fake evidences and thus Jolly wins the case. Jollys character was extraordinary and well played by akshay, his supporting roles were also enough to make a good view for audience. Songs was decent not that much superb, Background Score was done by Vishal Khuran. Cinematography was Kamal Jeet Negi which tended to be a good work with detailed perceptional factors.
