After reading several online review about this movie, I finally watched it yesterday. Before this movie I didn’t know who Joy Mangano was.
But thanks to this movie, I don’t just know about her life, her inventions, I even got to know about the trials and tribulations she had to go through to reach where she is today.
Joy Mangano was an ordinary woman, a single mother with 2 kids and a family full of demanding members, when overnight she became popular in almost all the households in America because of her invention’the miracle mop’.
She wasn’t some MBA pass out or didn’t go to any Ivy League college, she was a simple woman with quick thinking and plenty of ideas in her head. Jennifer Lawrence was hands down marvelous in the role of Joy, soft when he has to be and hardcore if the situation demands it. The rest of the cast were good in their respective supporting roles, but the showstopper was Lawrence. Her expressions are amazing and the way she has grown as an actress over the years is brilliant.
At times, I felt that the movie could have been made in a better way, it lacked a smooth flow. The execution wasn’t upto the mark, but if you can switch your focus from that to the story and Lawrence’s acting, you will surely have a wonderful time.
