Image courtesy: impawards.comWhen I saw this movie last weekend, I felt it was made for me. It reached out to me and touched me on a level that not many movies have.
This movie is about food, passion and two very gorgeous women who love food.
The challenge taken on by Julia of cooking 524 recipes in 365 days is a humongous one. Cooking even one of those elaborate recipes after a hectic day is scary. The amount of shopping involved, the costs etc can drive you crazy. But, I don’t know if this is true for Julie but it is for me, the look of wonder, slight reverence and happiness on the face of your family and friends after they have eaten what you have cooked makes it all worth the toil.
The movie for me, is about food. How food changes the life of two women in different times. How food can be the only thing you look forward to coming back home to. How food is life.
I could write about how Meryl Streeps’ loud and affable Julia wins hearts. How Amy Adams’ slightly neurotic Julie makes you forgive her for all her tiny flaws. But I won’t.
There is no sincere love than the love for food.
