My husband and I visited Jungle Lodges at Bandipur this September. Each of the rooms is named after an animal / bird and the backdrop of the room has that animal / bird painted in large size – it almost occupies the wall against which your bed is laid.
Our experience at Bandipur was good and we would like to visit similar places in future. Sunil – the biologist is knowledgeable – his company was a bonus during our safaris every day! The staff is warm and courteous. Food is good – not too fancy. Most jungle resorts however are better known for their environment than food. A wild-life movie is played every evening and this is followed by camp fire and dinner. They do have a bar with the camp fire.
A few tips for visitors who have not visited the forests / forest resorts earlier. The rooms do not have television. The idea is to enjoy nature and feel peaceful. Please do not take children who have high energy (and noise) levels along. They can be disturbing during safaris and you might not be able to see any wildlife. Spotting and animal is a matter of luck – please do not stress yourself into seeing one.
Our recommendation – if you do want to have a comfortable holiday yet feel amidst nature and spot some wildlife; this is the place! I have realized that there is a lot of beauty in the world; we perhaps take this for granted. Such trips have taught me to appreciate nature’s bounty.
