When they get hitched, visually-impaired couple Rohan ( Hrithik) andSupriya ( Yami) light up each other’slives. Unfortunately their dark world goes topsy-turvy when Supriya is raped and Rohan finds thepolicemen playing blind man’s bluff. Leaving himwith no choice, but to take the law into his ownhands.
My Review Revenge is a dish best servedblind is the message Kaabil serves up. Drawinginspiration from Hollywood’sBlind Fury ( 1989) with Rutger Hauer in the lead and evenborrowing shades of the Korean super hit,
For starters he lovingly sets up the beautifulworld of a blind couple-Rohan, a proficientdubbing artiste and Supriya, a talented pianist-who despite their handicap have a positivedisposition towards life. In just two scenes, youcan feel their love. So much so, when they getseparated from each other for a few minutes ata mall, you start feeling anxious. Also, when thiscouple breaks into the Mon Amour dance, it’s somagical, you find yourself clapping gleefully. Butwhether it is life or a Bollywood thriller, life isdefinitely not all song and dance. When a cad, Amit Shellar ( Rohit Roy) and his scum-buddyWasim( Sahidur Rahman) rape Supriya, Rohan’sworld is plunged into even more darkness thanthe one he is born into.Predictably the rapist Amit is the brother of thelocal corporator, Madhavrao Shellar( Ronit Roy) , so the corrupt police officers, played efficientlyby Narendra Jha and Girish Kulkarni, drag theirfeet over the investigation. When thehumiliationgets too much to bear, Supriya caves in, leavingRohan with vendetta on his mind. Here, the filmshifts gears and though you know what’s next, the cat and mouse game still gives you anadrenaline rush. Every time the blind vigilantecommits an atrocity, you whistle in the aisle.
