Well What is Hype??
Hype is something that urges curiosity, eagerness and eventually results in a footfall, walkin, tryout or an endorsment of the product the hype was made for, See Kaal released on 29th and in a single day there were 7 reviews floating and also its name in the reviews wanted section, This is what hype does it urges you to like it or hate it but just watch it very quickly before anyone, Kaal is one such movie where I must say I went into watch with my wife because of hype.
Tiger is on the loose killing people, A Team from National geographic is sent in to research it, A group of people are also in there for picnic, What happens next, will they survive or is there something supernatural to it is what Kaal all about.
But for me KAAL is about hype, it pales as the reels carry on screen, The movie promotion has been confusing. My wife till the last moment was in thought that SRK will make an appearance in the movie and also she will watch those 2 good songs according to her, Well first of all the onset of the movie should be haunting and scary to make a better impact, remember BHOOT where it started with cries but unlike that Kaal starts with a useless song featuring SRK and Malaika, you know people start loosing movie from this because they feel it hasnt started yet to lets attend to something more important, Soham, the director has done a decent to average job I have to say. He has tried few thrilling sequences but way the killing took place was missing hence the impact was lost.
The movie has an age old ending, it is the cause of boredom nothing else, infact once you know that then remaining 15 mins of the movie are a waste. Cinematographer hasnt helped with green screen shots that I saw in the movie making it irritating to watch but in Jungle scenes he has improved, I have been to Jim Corbett National park and it is more dense than what we saw in the movie.
Performance wise no one is good, Its like only style and no acting, Ajay Devgan is similar to his previous movies and Vivek, Esha and Lara are just passable, John Abraham has seriously disappointed me, He was quiet and gave many a times blank expression. Infact I would say its kind of slasher movies made in Hollywood and thats there wasnt much to act.
The movie is loaded with flaws, National Geographic doesnt even take a progress report from there researchers, Why didnt the Tiger kill the protagonist while they are face to face havent been well explained, They stress on not to walk in the jungle but again and again all are shown walking and roaming. The very essence of Supernatural shown is very very comical to believe and I saw the audiences laugh when they saw the outcome. The biggest letdown of the movie is there is no TIGER in it, infact its for only one sequence it has been shown, I thought it was the USP of the movie and my reason to watch it but you will be amazed to see no tiger in it.
Also in the movie they show the Forest Officer as the main reason for poaching but eventually in the movie you will find him helping the people with lives, thats ambigous. Kaal wont scare you a bit, infact it wil even make you yawn sometimes.
BG score from Warrier is goood to poor when its gets to noisy at times, Editor also lost his touch while the movie ends, I saw people leaving the hall when the climax was revealed. Infact we should laugh at the outcome of the killer.
Kaal will be hype and nothing else, I think it will do well at the boxoffice just because of that but I would only say to you is just remain away from Kaal, its no point coming out with actually just sitting through a movie rather then closely and impactfully watching it.
So from next time be cautious before getting trapped in a hype, I have learnt a lesson for sure.
